Hawkes Bay "The Trinity" 2020

A Merlot predominant blend that includes smaller proportions of other varieties to add further complexity and palate interest. The leather and plum aromas of the Merlot combine with spice and red fruit characters of the Cabernet family. Richness and soft, ripe tannins make a serious yet eminently drinkable wine.

Winemaking and Viticulture

The 2019/2020 growing season in Hawke’s Bay was warm and dry, the perfect environment to produce deliciously ripe, rich, and robust red varietals.

Each individual vineyard parcel was harvested separately and gently de-stemmed prior to fermentation. Gentle daily pumping over of the skins during fermentation helped extract a soft, complex structure. Extended maceration on skins following fermentation helped to further integrate and soften the tannins. Following aging in stainless steel tanks, and a short time in seasoned French oak, the individual blocks were blended to create the ideal wine.

The Wine

This red is predominantly a Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend, with smaller proportions Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot to add further complexity and interest. Cherry/plum flavours and the suppleness of Merlot combine with the blackberry/blackcurrant flavours, structure, and freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon to produce a serious yet eminently drinkable wine.

This wine is made to be enjoyed while young or will reward short-
to medium-term cellaring. It can be enjoyed with a wide range of different flavoured foods.
