"Creamy vanillin oak, lees-stirred barrel ferment, creme brulee and peach round out to a spicy, savoury, toasty finish".
Judges' comment, New Zealand International Wine Show October 2008 (Gold Medal).

"Classic regional style with rich stone fruit and toasty oak flavours, substantial body, a slightly oily texture and a rich, creamy finish."
Winestate magazine Hawkes Bay Regional Tasting, Sept/Oct 2008

"Intense and complex in a Burgundian style, with impressive mineral, nut and bran biscuit flavours, plus citrus and stone fruit. Beautifully structured with a lingering finish. Classy, well-priced chardonnay."
Bob Campbell MW, Gourmet Traveller Wine, Top 100 New Releases, June/July 2008.

"Sourced mainly from Mendoza clone plantings and aged 35% in new oak, the 2006  Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay has a neutral Chardonnay nose with touches of pineapple and pink grapefruit emerging with aeration. Reasonably well balanced on the palate, a touch phenolic perhaps but with an attractive honeysuckle finish with good delineation and vivacity. Trinity Hill is one of Hawkes Bay's outstanding producers and one of the country's finest proponents of Syrah. With two 20-hectare holdings in the Gimblett Gravels, chief winemaker and "bluesman" John Hancok along with Warren Gibson and Michael Bell are fashioning dense, powerful yet supremely well-balanced wines that rank amongst the best wines New Zealand produces and come highly recommended." Rated 88/100.
Neal Martin for Robert Parker.com, May 2008.

"Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay is full-on, with nutty, toffee aromas and flavours, backed by lovely fruit. It has a very long aftertaste. It's beautifully balanced and will develop - one if the best John Hancock and his team have made."  4 1/2 Stars.
Charmian Smith, Otago Daily Times, February 20, 2008.

"One sip left me tongue-tied with tropical tang. Beautifully rich and concentrated with fresh, vibrant acidity, elegant oak and an incredibly long-lasting finish made this wine one of the highlights of my week. It will make any meal a masterpiece."
Yvonne-Marie Lorkin, Hawkes Bay Today, January 26, 2008.

"Surely John Hancock at his best. Quite rich and intense, opening up very well as a deep yet approachable chardonnay which will delight the enthusiast and fit well beside hearty food flavours and sauces. There is a strength to the fruit which allows some (local) terroir statement to be clearly evident."
Peter Saunders, Food & Beverage magazine, January 2008.
