"Deep, moderately youthful colour, with substantial body and concentrated blackcurrant and olive flavours. Savoury and lingering." Winestate magazine Hawkes Bay Regional Tasting, Sept/Oct 2008.
"This is a smooth operator. Cabernet Sauvignon is often criticised for its lean palate and tannic structure but when you get an excellent example like this one, with some age, you can see why it is widely considered to be the king of grapes. It's suave and silky showing developing characters, yet the firm tannins indicate the variety's origin. The beautiful bouquet shows ripe plums, dried fruit and wild herbs with a touch of smoky oak. The palate is very harmonious with sumptuous ripe flavours, smooth textureand firm drying tannins, benefiting from the time in the bottle. Excellent. At its best: now to 2009." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2007.
"A serious wine opening out, warm yet not heavy fruit: flavoursome red from a year that suited cabernet sauvignon. Generous, hearty and bountiful, a nice wine in the mouth - and with dinner. Not finished yet but ready to be enjoyed with gutsy food courses." Winestate regional tasting 2006.
