"Cropped at 20 hectoliters per hectare and aged for 16 months in French barriques, the 2004 Homage Syrah has a more open-knit, fruit driven nose with touches of blueberry and violets. Good definition. The palate is medium-bodied, very well-balanced; although not as taut as the 2006 with white pepper, game and leather towards the supple, fleshy finish. This impressive wine should drink well over the next 10-12 years." 91/100 (Outstanding).

“A marvellously fragrant wine suggesting blackberry, licorice, anise and violets. The intense, long palate marries opulence and fineness to perfection.
This just might be NZ’s most intense Syrah / Viognier. It’s a huge wine with a velvet texture and masses of ripe plum and dark berry fruit flavours that are more than a match for the wine’s solidly oaky overcoat.”
