"Delicious now. Highly scented and refined, with concentrated, ripe stonefruit aromas and flavours, a very subtle seasoning of oak, and a seductively, dry, lasting finish."
Winestate magazine Hawkes Bay Regional Tasting, Sept/Oct  2008

"Has a rather muted nose but good definition with notes of wild hedgerow, dried apricot and white flowers: a bouquet that needs time to blossom. The palate is well-balanced, controlled exotic flavours with apricot, white peach and citrus fruits. This has vibrant acidity, very focused with great harmony, this excellent Viognier should drink well over 3-4 years."
Neal Martin for RobertParker.com May 2008.

"Sexy perfumes (jasmine and orange blossom) lead the way to a reasonably weighty, viscous mouthful from Hawkes Bay masters of newer varieties John Hancock and Warren Gibson. White peach and apricot flavours come through. Try partnering it with scallops with a creme fraiche sauce."
Cuisine Viognier Tasting, May 2008.

"Viognier is one of the rising stars on the New Zealand horizon, sometimes for blending with syrah or chardonnay, but equally as much as a stand-alone grape which makes a dry food-wine.

So it is appropriate that the Trinity Hill people, who have also given us montepulciano and tempranillo, have risen to the occasion with viognier. In the same month, Trinity Hill Homage Syrah took the biggest trophy at the Air New Zealand Awards - syrah another grape variety largely poioneered by Trinity Hill.

Master-craftsman John Hancock is famous for his chardonnays over almost three decades (his first Air New Zealand Trophy was with Delegats Proprietor's Reserve Chardonnay 1982) and, along with his long time co-star Warren Gibson, has now conquered viognier as well.

What is different in this wine is its natural drinkability, less austere than many, and thus more people-friendly. In the Trinity Hill Viognier we have accessibility - as well as the distinctive fruit statement of this variety. This wine has presence in the mouth, a striking wine with balance and good fruit tones - and affinity with many food choices."
Peter Saunders, Food & Beverage magazine's Best of the Best Wines of 2007.

"A hugely generous style, perhaps more like some Australian Viogniers, this wine embraces richness.
Concentrated quince and apricot characters are strongly evident, melding with toasty lees characters and weighted with heady alcohol. Opulent."

Cuisine magazine Aromatics Tasting, May 2007
