2004 WAIRARAPA RIESLING

If you love a crisp, limey Riesling with a hint of green apples, this is for you! Delicious anytime, great to cellar and the screwcap ensures none of the delicious aromas escape.

THE VARIETY
100% Riesling

VINEYARD LOCATION
Wainawa – Masterton, Wairarapa. Owned by the Petrie family.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS
2004 was a difficult vintage in the Wairarapa. With great attention to detail and impeccable viticulture, we were able to harvest the grapes, in good condition, when the flavour profiles were at their optimum level, yet still retaining good acidity.

WINEMAKING
The grapes harvested in outstanding condition were whole bunch pressed for maximum delicacy. The juiced was cold settled for 48 hours and then fermented at low temperature to keep as much of the fruit flavours as possible in the wine. Stopping the fermentation retained a small amount of residual sugar. The wine was bottled in mid-July 2004.

THE COLOUR
Pale straw

THE BOUQUET
Lime and orange blossom

THE PALATE
Lime juice and ripe apple fruit characters. Crisp acidity, supplemented by a small amount of retained sugar, adds to a fresh palate and lingering finish.

PEAK DRINKING
Enjoy from 2004 – 2010.
Crisp acidity, supplemented by a small amount of retained sugar, has resulted in very good potential for bottle aging.

FOOD MATCHES
Seafood or Asian-inspired dishes.
An excellent wine as an aperitif.
